The latest LTU technology represents an evolution of the airMAX technology and is based on Ubiquiti’s proprietary chipset, which uses the LTU protocol. With increased modulation and spectral efficiency, LTU provides higher throughput.

Functional Capabilities

Modulation: airMAX uses up to 256 QAM modulation, while LTU can utilize higher 1024 QAM modulation.
Spectral Efficiency: LTU’s high efficiency allows more traffic to be transmitted on the same frequency compared to airMAX — “more bits per hertz.”
Software Updates: Ubiquiti can enhance device performance through updates.

Note 1: For a relay connection, if one side uses an airMAX antenna and the other side uses LTU, the link will not work. Their protocols differ and are incompatible with each other.

Note 2:
The device comes with PTMP (Point-to-MultiPoint) firmware installed by default, operating in Station mode.
If you plan to use the device to set up a PTP (Point-to-Point) link, it is necessary to change the firmware and install version v1.x.x.
